Nothing compares to the aroma of bread fresh out of the oven! Bread smells so good, that even if you are not hungry, you want a slice of hot bread right away!!

Here on the Homestead we make almost all of our bread. That is mainly my job. It took a lot of flat and misshapen loaves before I got to where I am now, so do not expect to be an expert right away.
There is no comparison between store bread and homemade bread. Once you have eaten good homemade bread you will never be able to fully enjoy store bread again!! We love having quality, affordable bread to go with all our homegrown meats and vegetables. Plus, bread goes with most anything at any time.
The breads we make often are French bread, Artisan bread, and some times Dinner Rolls. Often we make French bread because it is quite easy and almost always turns out pretty. We use it to make crisps for breakfast. To make crisps we cut the loaf of french
bread into 1/8” slices, brush melted butter, sprinkle salt on them and put them in the oven to broil and watch them until they are golden brown.
We make Artisan bread because it goes so well with
soups and stews. Also you can mix up a large batch of dough and make loaves as you please, it is very nice to have bread dough ready made so you can have fresh bread in 40 minuets!!
Dinner rolls are a favorite because they are soft and sweet. Also, we have just started

making hamburger buns with the dough – they are the best!!!
You have to make sure you preserve your bread well, or else it will get dry and stale. We always wrap up our loaves in saran wrap, or you could put them in a Tupperware. Our loaves are typically too long to fit in any Tupperware. Either way they may keep for 4-5 days at most, but it rarely lasts that long. Enjoy!!!
Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
